Haveri, December 15: In a shocking incident, a couple died by suicide in Karnataka’s Haveri district on Tuesday. Their daughter also tried to end her life. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Shankrappa Agadi and his 46-year-old Vanishri. Their daughter, Keerthi, is being treated at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi. According to a report published in The Times of India, the family was struggling to meet both ends. They owned a small agricultural plot in the area. Shankrappa was addicted to alcohol. Due to the financial crisis, on Monday, Vanishri and Keerthi decided to end their lives. They both consumed poison.
Seeing their condition deteriorating, neighbours shifted them to the hospital. Vanishri died during the treatment. After hearing the news, Shankrappa went into depression. He hanged himself in his farmland on Tuesday. Keerthi’s condition is reported to be critical. The police have launched an investigation into the matter. The couple’s son runs a small transportation business.
In a similar incident that surfaced last month, three members of a family died by suicide In Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai. According to reports, an elderly woman, her daughter and her son took this extreme step owing to financial struggles. The family had been reportedly battling a legal case for a long time against their relatives.
