Karnataka: Depressed Over Mother’s Death, Woman and Her Younger Brother Die by Suicide After Jumping Before Running Train in Chikkaballapur District

Bengaluru, August 4: In an unfortunate incident in Karnataka, a woman and her younger brother allegedly died by suicide in Chikkaballapur district. The incident occurred on Friday morning, August 2, after the siblings ended their life by jumping before a train in Chikkaballapur's Sidlaghatta. The deceased were identified as N Navya (26) and her brother N Prabhu (22).

According to a report in the Times of India, the brother-sister duo were allegedly took the drastic steps as they were depressed over their mother’s death. Police officials said that Navya and Prabhu jumped before a speeding passenger train around 6.30 AM. They also said that Navya worked with a private firm while her brother worked as a daily-wage labourer. After the incident, the siblings father, Nataraj, said that his daughter and son were depressed since the death of their mother. The siblings mother, Lalitamma, passed away four months ago. It is reported that both Navya and Prabhu were very close to their mother.

In a separate incident, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death after barging into her mother’s house in Chamarajpet. The incident occurred on Friday, August 2. After stabbing his wife, the accused recorded a video as he went on to threaten his mother-in-law and others not to file any case against him.

The accused then uploaded the video on Facebook, before going incommunicado. After the incident came to light, the police launched a manhunt for the accused, Tabrez Pasha, a resident of Siddapura in south Bengaluru.
