Bengaluru, July 3: In a shocking incident in Karnataka, a Class 11 girl reportedly delivered a baby in the college's toilet. The incident occurred on Monday, July 1, at a private college in Karnataka's Kolar district. The 17-year-old girl reportedly delivered the baby on the campus in the women's toilet. After the incident, the girl and the newborn child were shifted to a hospital.

After the incident came to light, the girl's parents approached the police and lodged a complaint. It is reported that the girl, a Class 11 student, was in a relationship with a boy for the past two years. While the girl was pregnant, police were shocked to learn that her family did not know about her pregnancy. Bengaluru: ‘Drunk’ Student Stabs Security Guard of Sindhi College in Amruthahalli for Not Allowing Him To Enter College Premises, Disturbing Video Surfaces.

Police are also unsure as to why the girl hid the pregnant information from her parents. Police officials said they would speak to the girl with the help of a counsellor. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused and started an investigation into the incident.

Acting on the girl's parents' complaint, the police have registered a case under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Although the incident came to light after the new criminal laws came into effect on July 1, the alleged crime occurred nine months ago. Bengaluru Shocker: Man Stabbed by Wife With Scissors for Refusing to Eat Dinner Prepared by Mother-in-Law, Case Registered.

Hence, the new laws will not be applicable in this case, a police officer said.
