Bengaluru, November 24: Thirty passengers, including five children, are feared dead after a bus plunged into a canal in Karnataka's Mandya district on Saturday. The incident occurred at VC canal of the Cauvery river in Kanaganamaradi village. Earlier, Karnataka Deputy CM G Parameshwara confirmed that several people have lost their lives in this tragic accident. It is reported that people could not escape from the bus as it fell to its side, trapping the doors on the floor of the canal. According to the locals, the bus fell into the canal around 12:30 pm today. The people who saw the bus downing rushed to the spot to rescued people. It is reported that Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy who is also in Mandya is likely to visit the accident spot soon. Rescue operations have been started to search the bodies at the accident spot.
