Karnataka: 12 Dead, Over 80 Hospitalised After Eating Temple Food in Chamarajanagar

In a shocking incident, seven people, including a minor girl, died while more than 80 people were taken to hospital on Friday after they consumed food served at an event in Sulvadi Kichchugutti Maramma temple.

Hanur, December 14: In a shocking incident,  twelve people, including a minor girl, died while more than 80 people were taken to hospital on Friday after they consumed food served at an event in Sulvadi Kichchugutti Maramma temple in the remote village of Sulvadi in Hanur taluka of Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district. Around 60 crows who ate the food were also found dead. Lizard Found in Mid-Day Meal at Odisha School, 22 Children Fall Ill.

The devotees are admitted to the nearby hospitals in Kollegal, Kamagere and Mysuru. According to the reports, a religious gathering was led at Sulvadi village on account of building a Gopuram, a monumental entrance tower, for the diety- Kichhu Katti Maramma. The devotees were served 'veg pulav', after having their meal devotees started vomiting and felt unconscious. Police sources informed that the death toll is likely to increase as 11 devotees are critically battling for their lives. Meanwhile, the Hanur MLA Narendra told media that he has directed officials to sent prasad for a lab test.
