TOI reported that the family, led by 60-year-old Bhiman, had prepared mutton curry for dinner. Shortly after eating, their health rapidly deteriorated, leading to screams that alerted neighbors. Upon arrival, the neighbors found four family members, including Bhiman, his wife Iramma (54), son Mallesh (19), and daughter Parvati (17), lying on the floor with foam at their mouths, indicating severe distress. However, two other family members, Mallamma (18) and another individual, were found breathing and were rushed to RIMS Hospital in Raichur for urgent medical attention. The exact cause of the incident remains unclear. Police suspect that a lizard might have fallen into the food during preparation, contaminating the meal. Alternatively, the possibility of a collective suicide due to financial distress and debt burden is also being investigated.
The police have taken the four bodies into custody for post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. “Bhiman, Iramma, Mallesh, and Parvati died after eating the mutton curry, while Mallamma and another individual are critically ill,” said a police spokesperson.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking event.
