Bhopal, January 21: Bollywood film actress Kareena Kapoor Khan on Monday said that she has no intentions of joining politics and quashed reports claiming that she is contesting 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal as an Indian National Congress candidate. According to the reports, in a letter written to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, local leader Yogendra Chauhan claimed the actor would be the most suitable competitor to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Bhopal constituency. MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir Likely to Contest 2019 Lok Sabha Elections on BJP Tickets: Reports.

Kareena is married to Race 2 actor Saif Ali Khan, son of former Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi who was born in Bhopal. Pataudi had contested elections from Bhopal in 1991 as Congress candidate but he had lost to BJP MLA.

Earlier, there were reports that Madhuri Dixit is going to contest election from Pune. "The party is seriously considering giving candidature to Madhuri Dixit in the 2019 general elections. We think the Pune Lok Sabha constituency will be better for her," said senior BJP to media. But later, Dixit's spokesperson denied all the reports saying the news is false and speculative.
