New Delhi, August 9: Another instance of vandalism by Kanwariyas have come to the fore, this time in Uttar Pradesh. A group Kanwariyas vandalised a police vehicle in Bulandshahr on August 7. According to reports, the Kanwariyas took to vandalism after an altercation with the locals in Bulandshahr. The police have registered a case. Reports say the police personnel in the vehicle had to run to save themselves and were even chased by the Kanwariyas.

This came at a time when the Uttar Pradesh Police is facing flak for showering rose petals from helicopters to welcome Kanwariyas in the state. "No religious angle should be given to this, flowers are used to welcome people. Administration respects all religions and actively takes part, even in Gurupurab, Eid, Bakrid or Jain festivals," said Prashant Kumar, ADG (Meerut Zone), after a video of him showering rose petals on Kanwariyas went viral on the social media.
