Lucknow, November 4: A transformer theft turned tragic when one of the thieves suffered a severe electric shock in the Colonelganj area in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. What's more bizarre is the other gang members threw him into the Ganga River after tying his hands and legs. The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested 3 out of 4 accused for throwing the man in the river.

According to a report published by NDTV, the thief was identified as Himanshu (22). Himanshu, a scrap dealer and known member of a transformer theft gang, was critically injured during the robbery attempt on October 26 at the Gurudev Palace intersection. In a panic, his four accomplices - Shan Ali, Aslam, Vishal, and Ravi - tied Himanshu's hands and legs and threw him off the Shuklaganj bridge into the Ganga River while he was still alive. Himanshu's mother, Manju Devi, reported him missing on October 31 at Gwaltoli police station after he did not return home from October 26. Following the complaint, the police arrested Shan Ali, Aslam, and Vishal. Ravi remains at large, and the cops are searching for him, the report said. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to tying Himanshu and throwing him into the river after he got electrocuted during the heist. Police investigations confirmed their statements, with evidence showing the suspects loading Himanshu into an auto and heading towards Shuklaganj. Search teams have been deployed to locate Himanshu's body.
