Kanpur, August 5: A 19-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being hit by a train in Kanpur. He was sitting on the tracks, reportedly engaged in a phone call, when the accident occurred. The search for him began on Thursday, July 31, and his body was discovered on Saturday, August 3. Authorities have sent the body for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
According to a report from the Times of India, the deceased, identified as Kshitij Tripathi, was a class 12 student originally from Dibiyapur, Auraiya. He resided with his uncle, Satish Chandra, in Panki Padav. Kshitij frequently visited his friend Jatin's residence. On the day of the incident, he informed his uncle that he was heading to Jatin's place. As it grew late, Kshitij's family tried calling him, but his phone was switched off. Concerned, they contacted his friend Jatin, who informed them that Kshitij had never arrived. Their worry intensified, and despite multiple attempts to reach him, his phone remained off. The family began searching for Kshitij but found no information on his whereabouts. The search continued on Saturday morning, during which locals mentioned a train accident that had occurred the previous night. The family reached out to the GRP Central, who then visited the post-mortem house and confirmed the young man's identity. The family members arrived at the scene and identified Kshitij. His friends, who were present at the post-mortem house, revealed that Kshitij had a habit of chatting while sitting on the railway track.
On the day of the tragic incident, he was reportedly doing the same when he was struck by a train. It is suspected that his phone was stolen after the accident. GRP Central stated that the victim's body had been sent for postmortem. "We are waiting for the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death," the police said.
