Kanpur, October 30: A gym trainer, Arjun Singh, was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur for allegedly raping a minor trainee after drugging her with a sedative. The arrest followed intervention by the Allahabad High Court, which acted after local police failed to take action despite a complaint filed more than a year and a half ago.

The incident began in 2021 when the victim, then a Class 11 student, joined a gym in the Fazalganj area. Singh, the trainer, reportedly introduced himself to the victim and requested her phone number, which she declined to give. Chhattisgarh Horror: Out on Parole, Man Rapes 11-Year-Old Daughter and Niece in Baikunthpur; Arrested After 4 Days.

However, Singh allegedly obtained her contact number by paying the gym operator INR 20,000 and started pressuring her to meet him. He reportedly gave her an intoxicating powder, which led to dependency, and later called her to his residence, where he injected her with a sedative used for horses and raped her multiple times. West Bengal Horror: Doctor Rapes Patient After Tranquillizing Her, Blackmails With Inappropriate Pictures in North 24 Parganas; Arrested.

Singh is also accused of recording the video of rape, holding her hostage for several months, and threatening to release the video if she spoke out. Additionally, he allegedly incited her to harm herself to stage the incident as a suicide.

The victim eventually informed her parents, who tried to report the crime in 2023, but police allegedly refused to take action. Frustrated by the delay, the victim approached the Allahabad High Court, which ordered the police commissioner to file an affidavit. A chargesheet was subsequently filed, and Singh was arrested on Monday.

This incident follows another case involving a gym trainer in Kanpur who allegedly murdered a 32-year-old woman, whom he buried in the city’s upscale area after she protested his engagement to another woman.
