Lucknow, October 23: Kusum Tiwari, mother of Former Hindu Mahasabha Leader Kamlesh Tiwari, who was shot dead in Lucknow on October 18, expressed happiness on the arrest of the accused involved in her son's gruesome murder. "We are very happy with the arrest of the accused persons, they should all be hanged. I'm satisfied by the government's action", she was quoted by ANI. On Tuesday, two men allegedly involved in the sensational killing of Hindu outfit leader were arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from the Gujarat-Rajasthan border.
Himanshu Shukla, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) informed that the two accused were arrested from near Shamlaji on the Gujarat- Rajasthan border when they were about to enter Gujarat on Tuesday. The DIG said the ATS has arrested Ashfaqhussain Jakirhussain Shaikh (34) and Moinuddin Khurshid Pathan (27) - the main accused in the murder of Tiwari. The ATS officials nabbed them as their location was traced through technical surveillance as they contacted their family members and friends after running out of cash. A release by the ATS stated that as per primary interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that they had committed the crime "in retribution to the purported statements by Tiwari". After completing due procedure, the accused will be handed over to the UP police for further necessary action. The Two Accused - Ashfaq Shaikh and Moinuddin Pathan
Giving details about the accused, the ATS stated that Shaikh is a resident of the Limbayat area in Surat who worked as a medical representative while Pathan is a resident of Umarwada who was employed as a food delivery boy. While Shaikh, a resident of the Limbayat area in Surat, used to work as a medical representative, Pathan, a resident of Umarwada, was employed as a food delivery boy, the release said.
Shaikh and Pathan Fled to Nepal After The Murder
After committing the crime, the duo went to Nepal and then started their journey back to Gujarat after reaching Shahjahanpur (in Uttar Pradesh). "Since they ran out of cash, the accused duo contacted their family members and acquaintances for more money. Based on technical and physical surveillance, they were eventually traced today evening," the ATS release said.
Six Already in Custody
Reports inform that six persons, including three from Surat and one from Nagpur in Maharashtra, have already been taken into custody in connection with the horrific murder case. On Friday, the UP police and Gujarat ATS in a joint operation had arrested three suspects in the case from Surat - Maulana Mohsin Shaikh, Faizan and Rashid Pathan.
Reports inform that, three persons - Maulana Mohsin Shaikh, Faizan Member and Rashid Pathan were arrested in a joint operation by Gujarat ATS and UP Police and have taken to Uttar Pradesh on transit remand in connection with Tiwari's murder.
The Surat Link
According to reports, the Surat link came to light after the UP police found a box of sweets, bearing the logo of Dharti Sweets located in the Udhna area of the diamond city, from Tiwari's house, where he was gunned down by assailants.
Officials of the Surat police revealed a team of the UP police landed in the south Gujarat city and visited the sweet shop to get some more clues from CCTV footage. They also visited Limbayat and Navsari Bazar areas to question people who know the accused arrested from Surat.
On October 18, Kamlesh Tiwari was shot at the Naka area of Lucknow and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital during the treatment. Reports inform that the attackers, wearing saffron clothes, walked into Tiwari's office in Khurshid Bagh area on the pretext of handing over a box of sweets. The men walked in, opened the box, took out the firearm and sprayed Tiwari with bullets and fled.
