Lucknow, October 19: Expressing his grief over the killing of Hindu Mahasabha leader, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed authorities to take the strictest action against those who were involved in the killing of Kamlesh Tiwari. Earlier, Tiwari's wife Kiran revealed that her husband used to get threat calls every day but the authorities did not take any action. She also said that they won't cremate his body until the Chief Minister visits them.
According to the latest update, all three detained have confessed to the crime, Himanshu Shukla, DIG Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said on Saturday. Uttar Pradesh DGP, OP Singh said, "A joint team of UP & Gujarat Police has detained 3 persons & interrogating them. Their names are Maulana Mohsin Sheikh, Faizan, & Khurshid Ahmed Pathan. The two Muslim clerics from west UP's Bijnor district, against whom a murder FIR had been registered, were taken into custody, they are being monitored."
According to DGP Singh, the murder of 52-year-old Hindu Mahasabha leader was due to communal hate. He was killed by two unidentified assailants in Lucknow, who are on a run.
In 2015, Tiwari first broke the controversy when he purportedly made offensive remarks on Prophet Muhammad, which created a huge uproar and ended in massive demonstrations by Muslims across the country. He had also posted aggressive comments on social media.
