Kalyan: Police Refuse to Take Rape Complain, Woman Sends WhatsApp Message to Top Cop, Accused Held

Kalyan, October 5: After Police refused to take down a rape complaint, a woman took the help of the top cop by sending him a WhatsApp message, urging his intervention into the matter. Reports inform that cops at the local police station had refused to register a complaint of rape which made the woman ask for help from the chief of Thane police. According to a report by TOI, the woman was being turned away by a staff of Vishnu Nagar police station. However, it was police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar who, on the basis of the WhatsApp message, instructed his team to take immediate’ action on the woman's complaint.

After the intervention of the Chief, a rape case was registered, and a 29-year-old accused was arrested on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Sachin Patil, a Bhiwandi resident, who works as a driver. Reports inform that the accused had befriended the woman on a social networking site. Police informed that the accused had taken the woman to a temple in Bhiwandi where the two supposedly got married. But a few days later, the man told her that it was an invalid marriage. The report further states that the man began to harass her. Moreover, he also sent offensive messages to her friends, relatives and acquaintances from her social media accounts. The woman took the help of the Police Chief when she approached Vishnu Nagar police station in Dombivli but that they refused to take down her complaint.
