Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, known as K.C.R was born on 17 February 1954. He is the first Chief Minister of Telangana, a new state formed by the division of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
Hyderabad, February 17: President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other political leaders extended greetings to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the occasion of his 66th birthday on Sunday. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, known as K.C.R was born on 17 February 1954. He is the first Chief Minister of Telangana, a new state formed by the division of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
The President on Friday conveyed his birthday greetings to the Telangana Chief Minister and said, "Please accept my warm greetings and good wishes on your birthday on February 17, 2019". In a letter to KCR, the President said, "May the Almighty bless you with happiness, good health and many more years of dedicated service to the nation". Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to extend his wishes to KCR on his birthday. "Greetings to Telangana’s Chief Minister, Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao Garu on his birthday. May Almighty bless him with a long life filled with good health", he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio wished KCR on his birthday. "Birthday greetings to the Honourable Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, Telangana CMO. I wish you good health, long life and happiness", Rio tweeted.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also extended his greetings to Rao on his birthday. "Greetings to Telangana’s Chief Minister, Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao Garu on his birthday. May Almighty bless him with a long life filled with good health", he tweeted.
On Friday, Rao said that he will not celebrate his birthday falling on February 17 in view of the deadly Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned the coward attack on CRPF Jawans and cancelled his birthday celebrations in the state. The chief minister also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased and wished speedy recovery of the injured. Rao was born to Kalvakuntla Raghava Rao and Venkatamma at Chintalamadaka village of Siddipet Mandal in Medak District on 17 February 1954. He is the leader and Founder of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a regional party in India and a Member of the Legislative Assembly (Telangana) from the Gajwel constituency of Siddipet District in Telangana. He took oath as the first Chief Minister of the new state of Telangana on 2 June 2014.
