Offering condolences to the family of Vikram Joshi, Rahul Gandhi said, "Journalist Vikram Joshi was killed for opposing molestation of his niece. My condolences to the bereaved family.” Further attacking the UP government, he tweeted in Hindi saying, “They [UP govt] had promised Ram Raj, instead gave Gunda Raj.” Journalist Vikram Joshi Dies After Being Shot at in Front of His Daughters in Ghaziabad, 9 People Arrested So Far.

Joshi was shot at around 10.30 pm on Monday by miscreants near his home in Vijay Nagar area, according to officials. Joshi worked with a local daily in Ghaziabad. So far, nine people have been arrested in connection with the case, and two cops have also been suspended till now.
Earlier in the day, Joshi's nephew said that they won't accept his uncle's body until the accused is arrested. According to an ANI update, he said, "Some boys including Kamal-ud-Din's son used to eve-tease my sister. It was her birthday when the incident occurred. My uncle was coming home with her when Kamal-ud-Din's son attacked him and shot him."
