New Delhi, January 7: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) President Aishe Ghosh, along with 19 others, has been named in an FIR filed by Delhi Police. However, the FIR is separate from one filed on the JNU violence that broke out on Sunday night. The FIR against Ghosh and others was filed on January 5, for alleged vandalism in the university on January 4. As per an NDTV report, the FIR was filed at 8.43 pm on Sunday.

According to the reports, the Delhi Police had filed the FIR against the JNUSU chief in association with the protests that they allegedly led against the hostel fee hike by the administration and against the registration for the new academic session. Though Ghosh had denied the charges, police are yet to take actions against the accused, named in the FIR. According to the report, the FIR states that Ghosh "indulged in physical violence" and "pushed and threatened guards". Meanwhile, in another FIR filed over an incident in the server room of the University, Ghosh has not been named.

JNU Violence on Sunday Night

On Sunday night, a masked mob attacked students with iron rods and sticks inside the hostel premises in JNU and broke windows and doors of the hostel. Around 40-50 masked miscreants went on a rampage in the varsity and attacked several students and professors. Some of them, including JNUSU chief Aishe Ghosh and professor Sucharita Sen sustained head injuries.

An FIR has been filed in this regard, too, after over 30 people, including students and teachers, were injured. It is yet to be known who has been named in this FIR. No arrests have been made so far.

While the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) released a video alleging that JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh had led a masked mob of 'Red goons' inside the university for 'spreading terror', Left students shared similar videos accusing the ABVP of carrying out the attack.
