Delhi, January 7: Delhi Police on Tuesday requested all eyewitnesses of Jawaharlal Nehru University violence which took place on Sunday, January 5, to give their statements. The cops also urged students who have any information about the attack or captured any activity on mobiles or camera to come forward to Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Admin Block, JNU Campus. "All those who are witnesses to JNU Violence or have any info about it or have captured any activity on mobiles or camera, are hereby requested to come forward and give their statements/footage /picture to SIT at Admin Block, JNU Campus," deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) Joy Tirkey was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. In a first FIR registered on Monday, Delhi police described that the violent act at varsity campus as “deliberate” and said that it was conducted “in a planned manner”. More than 40 hours after the incident, cops are yet to arrest a single person from the mob which entered the university campus and assaulted students and teachers.

Student communities across the country are standing in solidarity with JNU. Protests were held across the country after the masked goons attacked students and teachers of JNU. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of RSS, is blamed for the attack. However, it has denied any involvement and alleged violence by Left student groups.
