The event, to commemorate the death anniversary of convicted Kashmiri militant Afzal Guru, at the JNU in 2016 had sparked controversy and outrage after allegations were made that anti-nation slogan was raised by Umar Khalid, Kanhaiya Kumar and several others. Several videos of the incident went viral on social media. However, some of the clips were found to be doctored.
According to Police, after a forensic examination of the videos, four clips are found to be genuine in which Kanhaiya, Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and others are seen shouting contentious slogans. As a proof, police have also attached a report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory which reportedly certified the authenticity of the clips.
