New Delhi, October 28: Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) students on Monday protested outside Inter Hostel Administration (IHA) meeting venue inside the university. The students were protesting over issues, including hostel fee hike and electricity charges. Dean of the university M. Jagadesh Kumar said that Professor Umesh Kadam fell ill due to protests. According to reports, students also blocked ambulance carrying Kadam and chanted slogans against the administration. The Police have also been called as the students held Kadam as a hostage. The professor and his wife were also reportedly manhandled by the protesting students. The Inter Hostel Administration (IHA) meeting was scheduled to be held at 10 am on Monday in the morning. According to reports, students who were not members of the IHA committee entered forcibly and disrupted the meeting. Due to the protest, Dean of Students Prof Umesh Kadam fell sick with high blood pressure. According to reports, Kadam is still at the health centre of the JNU.
