New Delhi, December 9: The JNU students have called for padayatra' from the JNU campus to Rashtrapati Bhawan demanding to meet the President against the university administration's hostel fee hike order on Monday. According to reports, along with the long march, the students have further threatened to boycott final exams scheduled on December 12.
Security has been tightened outside the campus ahead of the planned march to Rashtrapati Bhawan. The official handle of JNU students tweeted an image of the tight police security placed before the campus and asked "Why is the Police so afraid of us? Why do those in power not want us to exercise our Constitution given the right to protest peacefully? We will fight till the end to #SavePublicEducation #FeesMustFall." The students have been protesting over a month now. The agitating students continue to demand administration to rollback any hike in service and utility charges for hostels. On November 18, the students had planned to march to Parliament, but they met with barricades on the roads. As a result of which, they had to take an alternate route, but the march ended, after the police acted.
