Ranchi, January 11: In a shocking case from Jharkhand, two minor girls of Ranchi were held captive for more than a week, and repeatedly raped in Tatisilwai, located close to the state capital. The victims, aged 13 and 16, allege they were raped by their boyfriends after being invited for a picnic on January 2.

Both the girls returned to their homes on Thursday, after escaping from the hideout in Tatisilwai where the abductors had kept them since the past week. They narrated their ordeal before the Jagannathpur police station, which recommended the Tatisilwai rural police to initiate action, as the crime was committed under the latter's jurisdiction. Bihar: Mutilated Body of Missing Girl Found in Gaya; Family Alleges Rape, Inaction by Police.

An investigating officer, while speaking to the reporters said, a case of rape under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) will be registered.

The statement of the two girls have been recorded before a Mahila police station. Another official, privy to the probe, said the older girl had invited the 13-year-old to come along with her for the picnic.

The younger girl's parents had approached the police on January 2, claiming that their daughter has been kidnapped by her 16-year-old friend for ransom. However, when the duo returned together, it was found that both of them had been trapped and raped by the miscreants.

A search operation has been launched to nab the accused -- who have been identified as Badal and Manish. Both of them went missing after the crime was reported.
