Jamshedpur, June 3: In a shocking incident in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur, a man was arrested on Sunday for beheading a fellow villager and walking around with the severed head. Mithun Mahato, in his late forties, allegedly used a sharp weapon to kill 60-year-old Nitai Mahato, a vegetable vendor, refused to contribute money for liquor consumption.

TOI reported that the grisly event took place in Kudalang village, located on the outskirts of the city under the jurisdiction of the MGM police station. Following the brutal act, Mithun paraded through the streets with Nitai's severed head. The victim's son, Prahlad Mahato, arrived at the scene upon learning of the tragedy. Prahlad described his father as a non-working individual, with his mother being the sole provider through her vegetable sales.

MGM police station in-charge, Ram Babu Mandal, stated, "The accused has said that Nitai was not contributing money for consuming liquor for the last few days, hence he was angry with him." The police have detained Mithun for further questioning, and the victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
