Ranchi, August 20: The Jharkhand Police on Monday arrested 11 men for allegedly raping two minor girls last week. According to the police, the men, all aged between 18 and 28 years gangraped two minor girls on August 16 when they were going to the Hirhi Harra Toli area along with their neighbour. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Kumar Mahli said that the men were arrested after raids in the Hirhi Harra Toli locality.

The DSP said that the two girls were travelling with their neighbour on a motorcycle, which developed snag near the Hirhi Railway bridge. The police said that the 11 men took the girls to an isolated place where they beat up the neighbour and took turns to rape the two minor girls. The accused also snatched away mobile phones of the victims, the DSP said.

A case was registered at Sadar police station following the statements of the two girls. A task force headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Arvind Kumar Verma and Mahli was formed on the directions of Superintendent of Police Priyadarshi Alok to investigate the incident. The team also recovered the victims' mobile phones from the house of one of the accused, the DSP said.
