Ranchi, December 18: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped near the jungles of Kharsidagh and Khunti district border, on Bio-diversity Park Road on Sunday evening in Ranchi. The police have arrested five accused in the case. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, a group of 17 students of a college in Ranchi had gone on two-wheelers to celebrate a birthday party at Remta Dam in Khunti. While returning in the evening, six armed men stopped the two-wheeler on which two minor girls were riding pillion with a boy, and forced both the girls to go with them into the jungle area. The male student rushed towards the nearest village for help. The villagers reacted immediately and launched a manhunt operation for the culprits. The villagers and the students soon found out two men dragging one of the girls. After seeing the villagers, the criminals fled from the spot leaving the girl. According to the report, the police immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed both the culprits who have been identified as Prem Kachchap and Vikas alias Vikki Nayak. After conducting further search operation into the forest area, the forces found the other kidnapped girl in an unconscious state around 9 pm on Sunday and was sent to a local hospital for medical examination. The police arrested three more suspects Subhash Munda, David Horo and Ravi Minj on Monday. Later, they confessed to the police of gangraping the girl. Meanwhile, the police are conducting raids to nab the sixth suspect, Manoj. A case has been registered against all the accused were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
