Government has amended service rules of three armed forces where retirement age for services chiefs can be extended to 65 years if they are appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff. New Delhi, December 29: With a landslide majority in the recently held Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha interim chief Hemant Soren will take an oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand. JMM in alliance with Congress and RJD had crossed the magic figure of 42 and now has 47 MLAs. On the other hand, former chief minister Raghubar Das-led BJP managed to win only 25 seats. The swearing-in ceremony will take place in Ranchi at around 2 pm on Sunday.

Among other news, the Editors Guild of India lambasted the BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya for running a 'poll' on veteran journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai. The Guild called the action of Malviya as 'offensive, tasteless and deplorable' in which Malviya had asked if the veteran journalist -- Sardesai -- should handle public relations for the ISIS.

Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithini had quashed the allegations of Congress' general secretary in-charge for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in which she had claimed that Uttar Pradesh Police manhandled her while she was on her way to meet the family of jailed former IPS officer SR Darapuri. On one side Naithini claimed that rumours are doing rounds on social media of heckling and strangulating Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are wrong, the Congress leader stated that there are videos to prove her claim.
