Jharkhand: IED Blast by Naxals in Seraikela Leaves 11 Security Personnel of CRPF And State Police Injured

Ranchi, May 28: At least 11 security personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the state police have been left injured after being targeted by Naxals in Seraikela Kharsawan district. The insurgents used an improvised explosive device to trigger the blast in the early hours of Tuesday. No casualties have been reported.

According to officials, the IED is suspected to have been buried under the dirt track. The injured troops, eight of the CoBRA and rest belonging to the state police, have been airlifted to state capital Ranchi, they said.

The joint team was being led by the 209th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force deployed in the state for anti-Naxal operations, officials said.

The Maoist assault comes days after the anti-Naxal commando forces were attacked in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli. The IED blast on May 1 had left 15 security personnel dead.
