An estimated 49.01 per cent polling has been recorded in the fifth and final phase of Jharkhand Assembly election.

According to a report by PTI, an estimated 28.24 percent of over 40 lakh exercised their franchise till 11 am in the final phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections.

According to initial trends, Jharkhand has recorded 12.01 percent voting till 9 am in the fifth and final phase of polling. The voting began at 7 am for 16 Assembly constituencies.

The fifth and the final phase of polling has started in 16 constituencies today at 7 am. 


Ranchi, December 20: The fifth and final phase of polling in 16 constituencies have begun today. The voting will begin at 7 am and end at 3 pm on Friday in Borio, Barhait, Litipara, Maheshpur and Sikaripara constituencies while voters in the rest of the seats can exercise their franchise between 7 am and 5 pm.

In the final round of elections, the fate of two Jharkhand ministers and former chief minister Hemant Soren will be decided. The constituencies that are having their polling today are- Dumka, Godda, Rajmahal, Boiro, Barhait, Litipara, Pakur, Maheshpur, Sikaripara, Jama, Jarmundi, Nala, Jamtara, Sarath, Poreyahat and Mahagama.

The Election Commission has deployed over 40,000 security personnel in the 16 constituencies spread over six districts to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling.

Voting has already been completed in 65 constituencies in four phases between November 30 and December 16. Counting of votes is scheduled on December 23.
