New Delhi, October 15: Financially troubled Jet Airways apologised to its pilots and employees for a delay in paying their salaries for September month. The airline said it was in talks with pilots' representatives, and is working on finding a solution. However, it didn't give any firm date for payment of September salary to its senior management, pilots and other employees.

In an email sent to its employees on Sunday evening, Jet Airways said: “First of all, we would like to apologise for the delayed payment of your salaries and appreciate your patience in this matter. We remain committed towards your dues and profusely thank you for doing what you do for Jet Airways every day.” This came after it defaulted on payment of August salary. Jet Airways Rating Downgraded by ICRA Amid Financial Crisis.

On September 6, Jet Airways had informed its senior management, pilots and engineers that it would pay their salaries in two tranches - on 11 and 26 of the month - till November. Hence, the airline was supposed to release the first instalment of the August salary on September 11 and the second instalment on September 26. Jet Airways employees got the remaining 50 per cent of their August salaries in two instalments - on 26 September and 9 October. The airline also failed to pay the first instalment of the September salary three days after the designated date. "....we have met with the pilots' representatives and are working towards a solution, which will be communicated in the coming week,” the email further read.
