Chennai, December 28: Apollo hospital on Wednesday submitted an affidavit to the Arumugasamy Commission regarding the medical treatment given to the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Late Jayalalithaa. The hospital in an affidavit demanded a constitution of a Medical Board consisting of doctors/medical professionals to examine the medical records of Jayalalithaa. The hospital said that errors crept in due to the inability of a typist to comprehend and type correct medical terms. The hospital further added, “Words like ‘Intubation’ were recorded as ‘Incubation’ and such fatal errors to Commission’s understanding of facts about her treatment appear repeatedly.” The hospital claimed that these errors hampered the understanding of the commission in understanding the facts.

The commission is carrying out a detailed probe into the death of then former TN Chief Minister. Deputy CM of the state O Panneerselvam was asked to appear before the commission on December 20. Panneerselvam was one of the first leaders to raise suspicion over the demise of Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa died of cardiac arrest on December 5, 2016, after spending 75 days in the hospital. The Tamil Nadu government set the commission on September 25, 2017, the Tamil Nadu government appointed retired high court judge Arumughaswamy to probe into the demise of the former chief minister.
