Chandigarh, July 13: An Army jawan in Haryana was arrested on Saturday on charges of leaking confidential to a girl on social media platform Facebook. According to a tweet by ANI, the jawan identified as Ravinder was arrested in Narnaul for leaking confidential details on national security. ASP Vinod Kumar was quoted by ANI saying that Ravinder shared photos of weapons with a girl on Facebook. “While chatting with a girl on Facebook, he shared pictures of weapons used by Army. In January this year, Military Intelligence (MI) had discovered a Pakistan-based Facebook ID with an Indian name which was suspected to have been in touch with 50-60 Indian Army soldiers posted in sensitive areas, a report by The Print stated. In the same month, the Rajasthan police had arrested an Army jawan posted in Jaisalmer district after it was found that he was allegedly honey trapped by a Pakistani-based ISI operative. The jawan is accused of passing crucial information to the Pakistani agent who he met on Facebook.

The MI discovered that the jawan was sharing confidential information with a Facebook account under the name, which is suspected to be part of an ISI-led bid to honey-trap Indian soldiers. In the recent past, a Brahmos employee was also caught where the Pakistani spy had used the same modus operandi to trap the official.
