Jan Dhan Darshak Mobile App Launched by Government For Citizens to Locate Banking And Other Financial Services in The Country

New Delhi, September 26: The government on Wednesday launched the Jan Dhan Darshak mobile application to provide guidance to the common people in locating a Banking infrastructure at a given location in the country. The mobile application is jointly developed by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services (DFS) and National Informatics Centre (NIC). mPassport Seva App to Apply Passport Online Via Mobile: Steps to Identify the Genuine Application by Government of India.

"While locator apps are a common feature for many individual banks and financial service providers, in this era of inter-operable banking services, Jan Dhan Darshak app will be in a unique position to provide a citizen-centric platform for locating financial service touch points across all providers such as banks, post office, CSC, etc. These services could be availed as per the needs and convenience of the common people," an official release said.

Over 5 lakh financial touch points such as bank branches, ATMs and Post Offices have been mapped on the application. The government said that nearly 1.35 lakh 'Bank Mitras' would be brought on board by December this year.

Some of the features of Jan Dhan Darshak app are as follows:

• Find nearby Branches/ATM/Post offices, based on the current location
• Make searches by place name
• Voice assistant services also available for searching
• The contact number of bank branches available in the app, with calling facility.

The application is listed on the Google Play store under the banner of NIC eGov Mobile Apps which has previously launched government applications like mParivahan, Awaazapp, MissionAntyodaya among others.
