The BJP has won 212 out of 520 wards in urban local body polls held in Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir. Independent candidates secured more seats than Congress in municipal polls. While Congress won 110 wards, independent candidates were elected from 185 wards. JKNPP candidates were declared winner from 13 wards.
The BJP has failed to open its account in Jammu and Kashmir's Ladakh region. Out of the total 26 wards in this region, the Congress bagged all the 13 seats in Leh municipal committee. It also bagged five wards in neighbouring Kargil district, news agency IANS reported.
Independent candidates have won maximum seats in Poonch urban local body elections. 11 seats went to independent candidates. BJP won four seats, whereas Congress bagged two seats.
In Ramnagar municipal committee in Udhampur district, the BJP has won on six wards, whereas Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) bagged five seats.

In Kathua and Hiranagar, the BJP were declared elected in 13, the Congress in eight and the independents in seven wards. The Congress won all the seven seats in Bannihal.

Srinagar, October 20: The result of municipal polls in Jammu reigion of Jammu and Kashmir will be declared today. Counting of votes for urban local body (ULB) elections in Jammu region will begin at 9:00 am. The four-phase polling for all 79 urban local bodies in Jammu and Kashmir ended October 16, recording an overall 35.1 per cent voter turnout in the state. In Jammu region, urbal local body elections were held in Doda, Kathua, Ramban, Reasi, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Samba.
