Srinagar, October 7: The Home Ministry advisory which barred the entry of tourists in Jammu & Kashmir has been lifted by Governor Satya Pal Malik. The restrictionary advisory of the MHA will cease to exist from October 10 -- the date from when domestic and international visitors would be allowed to visit all parts of the J&K including the restive Valley region. The move comes nearly two months after Article 370 was revoked from J&K and a statewide communication blockade was imposed.

"Governor Satya Pal Malik has directed that the Home Department’s advisory asking tourists to leave the valley be lifted immediately. This will be done with effect from 10.10.2019," said the statement issued by the Raj Bhawan on Monday. BJP Will Get its First Chief Minister in Jammu & Kashmir Very Soon, Says BJP Chief Ravinder Raina.

Update by ANI:

Even as the government has decided to lift the ban on tourists' entry, mobile network and internet lines continue to remain clamped down in the Kashmir Valley. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had recently told the international media that terrorist handlers and agent provocateurs from Pakistan are attempting to spread a negative propaganda, which is preventing the Indian government from lifting the restriction on internet.

Apart from lifting the curbs on tourism, the Governor also held discussions with officials over the the Block Development Councils (BDC) elections. He was informed that there is active interest in the BDC elections and most of the seats of Chairpersons of BDCs would be filled. Notably, the polls are slated to be held in the state from October 24.

The Governor, in the meeting with top officials today, was also briefed about the progress in apple procurement which has crossed 850 tonnes and worth Rs 3.25 crores. Some changes in the rates of apple are being made which will be announced shortly.
