Poonch, January 26: Pakistan has yet again violated ceasefire in Mankote area of Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, as India celebrates 70th Republic Day countrywide. Indian Army has retaliated in response as heavy gun shelling between the two sides continues.

With this ceasefire violation across the Line of Control, the Pakistani armed forces have deliberately attempted to cause some sort of easiness and disturb the peaceful environment in the Indian territory. Earlier in the day, the Indian Armed Forced foiled the attempt of terrorists to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations and killed two militants in Khonmoh area of Srinagar. Three SoG personnel were injured in the encounter, and the security personnel recovered heavy ammunition from the spot.

Based on the information received from a credible source, the armed forces gheraoed the Khonmah area of Srinagar on Friday morning. Suspecting movements, the terrorist fired gunshots, and in retaliation, the armed forces too gave them a befitting answer. This resulted in the killing of two terrorists.

The encounter took place nearly 15 kilometres away from Sher-i-Kashmir cricket Stadium in Srinagar, which is the main function of Republic day. Though the encounter operation is over, the armed forces are currently engaged in combing operations.
