Srinagar, September 12: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik on Thursday, September 12, took a major step for restoration of normalcy in the valley and to activate paused economy after the abrogation of Article 370. "Today, Governor Satyapal Malik launched first-ever support price-based procurement system for apples in J&K, we've taken note of concerns raised by farmers regarding rates offered to them, as well as transportation issues, this scheme addresses all these concerns," said J&K Principal Secy Rohit Kansal.

Talking about the scheme, Governor Malik said that the apple sector needs special focus as it is a direct or indirect source of income to seven lakh families. "With the scheme, the government wants to lay focused attention on providing every possible support to the apple growers right from their orchards to the market," the J&K governor said.
Malik also warned those who are threatening fruit growers in the valley. "I want to warn those threatening our farmer brothers. Let them change their behaviour immediately or else we will provide full security to farmers... We will protect them fully," the governor said.
