Jammu and Kashmir: Four JeM Terrorists Killed in Pulwama, Two Militants Hurl Bombs at Police Station in Sopore
The security forces on Friday neutralised two listed terrorists and another two SPOs who had recently deserted the police forces and become members of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. Apart from this, reports are arriving that terrorists have lobbed a grenade at Police Station in Sopore.
Pulwama, June 7: The security forces on Friday neutralised two listed terrorists and another two SPOs who had recently deserted the police forces and become members of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. All the four terrorists were killed in Lassipora area of Pulwama district. Apart from this, reports are arriving that terrorists have lobbed a grenade at Police Station in Sopore. Two policemen were injured. The area has been cordoned off.
Briefing more, police personnel from Jammu and Kashmir police stated that all the four terrorists' identities have been identified. They include Ashiq H Ganaie of Panjran Pulwama, Imran A Bhat of Arihal Pulwama, Mohd Salman Khan of Uthmulla Shopian and Shabir A Dar of Tujan in Pulwama. After the encounter, security personnel also recovered incriminating material including arms and ammunition from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for the purpose of investigation and to prove their complicity in other terror crimes.
According to reports, the gunfight between the security forces and terrorists began on Thursday in Pulwama district. Police said that after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in Panjran village in Lassipora area, the security forces started a cordon and search operation.
Last year, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which is the highest in the past 15 years with an average of eight cases daily. According to a report by PTI, 61 people were killed and over 250 injured in these incidences in 2018.
