Srinagar, October 26: Rajendra Singh, one of the three Army soldiers killed in Kashmir in the past 24 hours, died due to injuries he received in stone-pelting by mischevious elements in the Anantnag area of South Kashmir. The 22-year-old Indian Army was part of Quick Reaction Team (QRT) that was providing security to a Border Roads Organisation convoy yesterday. According to a report published in The Statesman, at around 6 pm, when the convoy was passing through the Anantnag bypass tri-junction near National Highway-44, few youths hurled stones at the vehicle. Jammu & Kashmir: 4 Terrorists Neutralised by Security Forces In Anantnag Encounter

Sepoy Rajendra Singh was injured after being hit by a stone directly on the head. He was immediately taken to the Srinagar based 92 Base Hospital, but later he succumbed to the injury. Singh belonged to village Badena in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh. He is survived by his parents. Today, senior officials of the army paid tributes to the three of soldiers who lost their lives in separate operations and incidents in the Kashmir Valley in the past 24 hours.

According to the report, in the Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the martyrs. Dilbag Singh, DGP J&K also paid tributes to the brave-hearts. Lance Naik Brajesh Kumar, sustained splinter injuries during a fierce gunfight in Malgunipura (Sopore) on October 26. Two terrorists were eliminated in the operation. Lance Naik Kumar had joined Army in 2004 and belonged to Nanawin Village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Sepoy Ngamsiamliana attained martyrdom after terrorists attacked an Army Camp at Luragam village of Tral in Pulwama on October 26. The 23-year-old Sepoy Ngamsiamliana hailed from village Rengtekawn in Kolasib, Mizoram and had joined the army in 2013. His parents survive him. Bodies of the martyrs have been flown to their respective native places for last rites.

The security forces have eliminated a total of nine terrorists in Kashmir in separate operations in the last 24 hours. Till now close to 200 terrorists were neutralised this year in the valley, while around 100 security personnel attained martyrdom.
