Jammu & Kashmir: 3 Terrorists Neutralised in Encounter With Forces in Shopian

The encounter comes a day after the forces eliminated two militants in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Srinagar, May 31: Three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu & Kashmir's Shopian on Friday. Out of the three terrorists, two belong to Hizbul Mujahideen. These two terrorists were identified as  Abid Manzoor Magray alias Saju Tiger and Hilal Ahmad. Meanwhile, the third person killed in the encounter was a close associate of terrorists and was identified as Jasim Ahmad Shah. He belonged to Malnad- Sugan area of Shopian.

According to police, The gunbattle began in the early hours Friday, when a joint team of the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) busted a terror hideout in Dragad Sugan area of Shopian district. Two Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists Gunned Down in Sopore Encounter

The encounter comes a day after the forces eliminated two militants in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

"On a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces in the Dangerpora area of Sopore. During the operation, the terrorists who were hiding fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated, leading to an encounter," a police spokesperson said on Thursday.

Following the Pulwama attack in February, the security forces have launched an all-out operation against militants operating in the Valley. As per the stats released till April, 66 militants affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba have been eliminated.
