Jammu-Delhi Duronto Express Looted by Unidentified Men on Outskirts of Delhi, Northern Railways Initiate Probe

The incident took place on the outskirts of Delhi. Reports inform that the Northern Railways CPRO has informed that RPF has initial leads in the case and action will be taken against culprits.

New Delhi, January 17: In a shocking incident, passengers travelling in Jammu-Delhi Duranto Express were looted by unidentified assailants on Thursday. According to a tweet by ANI, the burglars entered B3 and B7 coaches of the Express train during the early morning hours on Thursday and looted money and expensive valuables from passengers. According to reports, the incident took place on the outskirts of Delhi. The Northern Railways CPRO informed that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has initial leads in the case and action will be taken against culprits.

The incident comes a week after Delhi-Bhagalpur Express was looted by a gang of eight men. The unidentified robbers looted valuables worth Rs 25 lakh from passengers on board the Delhi-Bhagalpur Express (12350). Reports inform that the robbery took place between Dhanauri and Kajra in Bihar's Lakhisarai district where the gang of thieves attacked S-10, S-9, AC 3 tier and AC 2 tier coaches of the train. Gold Worth Rs 2.5 Crore Stolen from Bandra-Udaipur Train in Rajasthan.

According to ANI, the thieves also thrashed some of the passengers after the resisting them and refused to follow what they said. The incident came to light after one of the passengers' relative tried contacting Indian Railways on microblogging site Twitter.
