Jammu Bus Stand Blast: Police Arrest Accused Who Threw Grenade, Says Hizbul Mujahideen Behind Attack

Srinagar, March 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested the accused who allegedly threw a grenade at a bus stop in Jammu, killing one civilian and injuring 30 other people. IGP Jammu, Manish K Sinha, addressing the media on Thursday evening, said that "Yasir Bhatt was tasked to throw this grenade by District Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen in Kulgam, Farooq Ahmed Bhatt alias Omar." Grenade Blast Inside Bus At Jammu Bus Stand; 1 Dead, Over 30 Injured.
Talking about the investigation that led to the quick arrest of the accused, "Teams were constituted to work on leads, CCTV camera footage examined, based on oral testimony of witnesses we were able to identify a suspect. He was detained, his name is Yasir Bhatt, he has confessed to the crime."
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik also condemned the grenade attack at the bus stand in Jammu district. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 20,000 each to those injured in the incident.
Earlier, a grenade blast was reported at the Jammu bus stand on Thursday. One person injured in the explosion succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Shariq. At least 30 people were injured in the grenade blast after suspected terrorists carried out a grenade attack in the crowded general bus stand area in the heart of the city.
