A video has surfaced in which a woman Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) is seen asking militants to surrender before they were gunned down.
Srinagar, September 29: Security forces neutralised three militants in an encounter in Thor village of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Saturday. Security forces also recused civilians who were taken hostage by ultras. A soldier lost his life and two cops were injured in the encounter. A video has surfaced in which a woman Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) is seen asking militants to surrender before they were gunned down. In the video, SSP Anita Sharma is seen asking terrorists to give up the fight and let hostages go. She addresses a hiding militant, identified as Osama, and assures him that nobody will touch him if he surrenders. She gives militants 15 minutes to surrender and asks them to release hostages. However, Sharma's repeated requests went in vain as militants refused to come out from the house where they were hiding. SSP Anita Sharma Asks Militants to Surrender During Ramban Encounter:
The encounter broke out after the militants opened fire at a team of security forces who went to check the presence of suspicious men. A driver informed security forces about the presence of suspicious men who had tried to stop his vehicle near Dharmund village. A quick reaction team then reached the spot where the suspicious movement was spotted. During the search, the officers were fired upon by militants.
The militants hurled a grenade and followed it by firing. They then entered a house and taken its inmates hostage. Later, security forces gunned down all three militants and rescued hostages. The slain terrorists belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen. In another encounter, three militants were killed in the Naranag forest area of the Ganderbal district. They reportedly entered the Valley from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector.
The Pakistan army had been violating the ceasefire in the Gurez sector for the last three days with the aim to facilitate infiltration of terrorists.
