Jammu and Kashmir: Two Terrorists Gunned Down in Bandipora Encounter, Operation Underway

Jammu, Sep 21: The security forces on Friday gunned down two terrorists in the forest area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a tweet by ANI, the encounter between the security forces and militants is currently underway. The identity of the slain ultra was being ascertained. The encounter had started on Thursday afternoon. According to reports by PTI, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in forests of Sumlar area following information about the presence of militants there.
In a separate incident this morning, three Special Police Officers (SPOs) and one Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were abducted by terrorists in Shopian district. The policemen have been kidnapped from Kaprin and Batagund villages.
As per details by police, the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire towards security forces’ positions. On September 15, five terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed in an encounter Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. He said weapons and war-like stores have been recovered from the encounter site.
Earlier this month, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist was killed while eight security personnel, including a DSP, were injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. According to Police, security forces during a cordon and search operation zeroed in on a location near a house in the district's Kakriyal area and trapped the terrorists.
