Jammu and Kashmir: Two BSF Jawans Dead After Truck Falls Into a Gorge Near Banihal
According to a tweet by ANI, the driver of the vehicle also died in the accident. Reports inform that the troops were moving to Kashmir for civic body elections
Jammu, Sep 19: Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Rambal district on Wednesday after the truck they were in, fell into a gorge in Banihal town. According to a tweet by ANI, the driver of the vehicle also died in the accident. The accident took place when the troops were moving to Kashmir for civic body elections. The Banihal town in the state is also known as "Gateway of Kashmir" and is a notified area committee in Ramban district.
Many accidents have been reported from Banihal as it is a rural and a hilly area with Kamirwah being one of the most spectacular hills.
Earlier in the day, the Border Security Force (BSF) had raised the issue of killing of its jawan with the Pakistan Rangers at the sector level. The BSF has also sought Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) to raise the issue with Pakistan at its level. In a separate incident that took place on Tuesday night, a BSF jawan was mutilated by Pakistani forces along the international border (IB) near Jammu.
On Tuesday, a BSF jawan was found dead hours after alleged cross-border firing by Pakistan in Samba district. The alleged firing had started around 10.40 am in Ramgarh sector, and the Indian troops retaliated, a spokesperson for the force said.
