Jammu, September 13: All the three terrorists who had attacked the police party yesterday have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kakriyal. The encounter took place today near Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University opposite Jhajhar Kotli along Jammu-Srinagar highway. Twelve security forces have also been injured in the operation. The terrorists belonged to Pakistan's Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operation has been called off.

A search operation was launched after the three terrorists attacked the police party. The terrorists travelling in a truck fled into the forests after they were intercepted on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway on September 12 morning since then the security forces sealed the area. According to media reports, the terrorists had infiltrated from Pakistan. Talking to reporters, IGP Jammu, Dr SD Singh Jamwal confirmed that all the three terrorists have been neutralised.

Earlier in the day, two terrorists were also neutralised down by the security forces in Sopore in Baramulla district. Acting on the information of the presence of terrorists in the area, the security forces launched a search operation. The operation was carried out by the joint team of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the state polices Special Operations Group (SOG and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Internet services in the area have been suspended, and educational institutes are remained closed for the day. Till now close to 160 terrorists have been killed by the security forces in the Kashmir Valley, while close to 70 Indian troops lost their lives.
