Srinagar, June 7: At least four terrorists have been gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. According to tweet by ANI, the four militants have been neutralised in Lassipora area of Pulwama district. The security forces have recovered 3 AK series rifles from the encounter site. The search operation is currently underway in Lassipora. Reports inform that after the security forces neared the militants, they opened fire at the security forces, triggering an encounter. According to reports, the gunfight between the security forces and terrorists began on Thursday in Pulwama district. Police said that after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in Panjran village in Lassipora area, the security forces started a cordon and search operation.
On Thursday, Police informed that a militant's body has been recovered while his exact identity is being ascertained, adding the operation against militants is still going on. In the wake of the encounter, authorities suspended mobile internet services in Pulwama as a precautionary measure.
Last year, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which is the highest in the past 15 years with an average of eight cases daily. According to a report by PTI, 61 people were killed and over 250 injured in these incidences in 2018.
