Srinagar, October 22: The Kashmir Zone police on Tuesday informed that the security forces had killed three terrorists in Awantipora encounter. As per the initial details, the identities and affiliations of the terrorists are being ascertained by the Indian Armed forces, but sources claim that all three were Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. Meanwhile, no casualty has been reported from the Indian side. The area has been cordoned by the security forces and has launched the search operation.
According to sources, the encounter between the Indian security forces and the terrorists broke out in the evening after the Indian Armed forces received an input about the presence of three terrorists hidden in the Awantipora area. Apart from the encounter, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered. Following this, the security forces in J&K had launched a cordon and search operation in Awantipora. Earlier on October 16, the Indian Armed forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in Anantnag area of Jammu and Kashmir. Reports state that the terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen group, however, conformity has not been made as of yet.
