Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorists Target Police Station in Pulwama, Fourth Grenade Strike in Last 24 Hours

Pulwama, January 18: In less than 24-hours, militants have attacked a police station with the grenade in Kakapora area in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. This is the fourth grenade attack within last 24-hours in the valley. Though no reports of injuries have surfaced as of yet, security forces have cordoned the area and started the search operations to neutralise the militants.
According to the initial information, the militants have attacked the police station, situated near to the Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) area of Lal Chowk area. Soon after the grenade was thrown inside the compound wall of the police building, Sentry opened fire observing something suspicious. Security forces have sealed the nearby area and internet services are being closely monitored. Earlier in the day, Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists carried out two grenade attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, including one in the Lal Chowk area of Srinagar. Though in both those attacks, no casualties have been reported, security has been beefed up.
The security forces including – Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir police – have been kept in high alert ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
The terrorists attacked the CRPF deployment at Ghanta Ghar, early on Friday, in which was a parked car was party damaged due to the explosion. Also, another attack has been reported from the Shopian area.
