Jammu, July 31: A group of terrorists opened fire in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the terrorists also snatched a rifle from a security personnel. More details are awaited. According to details by the government on Monday, a total of 110 terrorists have been gunned down by the security forces and 18 civilians have lost their lives till July 22. This information was given by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in a written reply to question in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
In the last week, three militants, including a Pakistani, involved in the abduction and killing of a police constable were killed by security forces in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Constable Mohammad Saleem Shah, who was on leave, was abducted by militants from his residence in Mutalhama area of Kulgam in south Kashmir.

Earlier this week, a militant was gunned down in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. After receiving inputs about the presence of militants, the Army’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a cordon and search operation in Sudal village in Handwara.
In another separate incident, four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in Anantnag district, a police official informed. According to ANI, the militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF bunker in Bijbehara’s Zerpora.
In order to prevent activities of militants, numerous steps have been taken including the strengthening of an operational grid with enhanced human intelligence and use of technical intelligence grid. Besides, Police and civil authorities of Jammu and Kashmir have been advising people through various media to stay away from encounter sites.
