Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorists Open Fire at Police, One Policeman Shot Dead Outside an Eidgah in Kulgam

The Jammu and Kashmir police gunned down a terrorist in the gunfight. Earlier in the day, eid celebrations on Wednesday were marred by violence in several areas including Anantnag and Srinagar after heavy clashes took place between security forces and protesters.

Jammu, August 22:  A policeman was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday. According to a tweet by ANI, terrorists shot at the police personnel outside an eidgah in Kulgam's Zazripora. Also, the Jammu and Kashmir police shot dead a terrorist in the gunfight. Earlier in the day, eid celebrations on Wednesday were marred by violence in several areas including Anantnag and Srinagar after heavy clashes took place between security forces and protesters.

Earlier this week, an Army jawan was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The slain jawan was identified as Ram Babu Sahai. According to a PTI report, the injured jawan was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital of the Army here but he succumbed to injuries. As the security forces were carrying out searches, the militants opened fire on them, resulting in injuries to one soldier.

Police informed that security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Kachloo village in Handwaraarea of Kupwara district following information about presence of terrorists there.

On August 12, a policeman was killed and five other security forces personnel were injured during an encounter with militants in Batamaloo area. Police informed that two ultras were arrested after security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Diyarwani in Batamaloo area.
